hey everyone,
i have a 95 f150 with a 3"suspension lift i did not install the lift so i have no idea where its from or if it matters but im curious if i can add a stiffer rear suspension so i can haul toys and not sag my a$$ end while keeping my lift
well im not really sure how to tell whether its block or lift springs im not real familiar with lift kits since ive never installed one but i was thinking towing a 18' boat and ive hauled it before and my rear saged down when i did and was thinking if possible to swap out the current suspension for F250 of the same era suspension to stiffen it up
If its a block lift in the rear it'll have a block between the spring perch on the axle and the bottom of the springs. You may be able to add add a leafs
If it's a 4wd, there will be a block in there already, that was stock from the factory. The F150 has a 2" block, so if it's larger than that, or if there's stacked blocks, that would be part of the lift.
Some lift springs (mostly the cheaper ones) are known to sag more under load than the stock springs did.
How much does the truck sag when you hitch up the trailer? What's the tongue weight on the trailer?
Post a picture of what we're dealing with, specifically where the springs meet the axle. It will more than likely be the typical lift blocks, and my suggestion would be to ditch them and have a set of springs made to suit your needs. I had my local spring company (www.saintlouisspring.com) build new spring packs based on what I wanted (extra capacity, 1 extra leaf, 1 extra helper leaf, and an extra 1" of arch), and I've been very pleased with them. It's less expensive than you'd expect to have a set made.
