oil dipstick
I bought a ranger with a 1978 302in for a project truck. i have besen over it with a fine tooth comb and cant find my oil dipstick. or the place for it. been through every manual. anyone have any ideas. i have redone dozens an never had this problem.

A 78 302 will have no dipstick hole in the block. And a timing cover mounted dipstick will not work, as you have a rear sump oil pan on this motor to fit in a Ranger. (unless this is the older full size Ranger) If its the small Ranger, you'll need a rea sump oilpan with a dipstick provision in the oilpan. The Fox body 5.0 pans are the ones that work in a V8 Ranger swap, but the only pans like this were the first year's fox pans (79-1981)
