there is nothing wrong with using green coolant in a diesel as long as you also add athe diesel coolant additive to it.
i now have over 496,000 miles on my 88, and it has always had green in it.
is this for your excursion?
if so, i think the recommended coolant for that is gold. that is what i have in my 02, because it came with it. the 88 came with green, so that is what i always put in it.
Yes my 03 but the gold has silica in it and thats what trashed my oil cooler so I got rid of it like alot of guys on the powerstroke website have done !!
Not every time my egr was fine but I deleted it anyway but my oil temp was 20-30 deg. Higher than my ect because screen under oil cooler had become plugged and tore ! Well I inspected my egr and it looked ok but I haven't cut it open to look inside it yet but it doesn't seem to ever have leaked !

If you're talking about something like Zerex G-05, it specifically states "low silicate," which is what you want in a diesel. I'm not sure what you mean here.
