Ok... so I guess the supernats will happen this year and looks like it will be at the unshaded parking lot on Treaster lane behind the parkway. Let's hope for a cloudy rain free weekend and cooler temps...
I've got my reservations made and will get there Thursday evening (but with no truck)
Wondering who else is going and thought we might find a spot for a meet and greet something like the impromptu one we had last year at Donalds booth...
so who's going for sure ??? where should be gather ?? and don't say lets meet in the parking lot....THE WHOLE THING IS THE PARKING LOT !!!!! or if you insist...
Not hiding at all. That is the weekend of the first ever midwest Truckfest so graciously hosted by Rojack. If I can get away for a few days, I am going there but if the stars don't align for Truckfest, I'll slip up to the nationals for a few hours on Friday am.
Right now I have an obligation that is keeping me close home.
Really ??? nobody ??? or ya'll just hiding out from me ???
I will be there for Friday evening/Saturday morning and then heading home. I have to deliver a frame and then do some parts shopping, tip a few frosties with some friends and call it a weekend
Bertha and I are looking forward to meeting up with you and getting the frame so I can finally finish this project up. Question is, where in the heck are we going to meet up. There is no way I am going to miss out on this opportunity. Take care and e-mail me when you get stuff worked out, we are planning out all the details ourselves. Looking forward to our First F100 Supernationals.
Nashville Goodguys is that same weekend. I probably will ride out for the day on Friday in my daily driver to pickup a few parts. If you are looking for aFTE friendly gathering spot I think HOT ROD Trucks would be a good one or Carolina Classics. Rodney or Ricky have always allowed us to meet and greet at their booths. Everyone has been wise and courteous enough to stand over out of the way so as not to disrupt business traffic for either of these guys. So who's bringing me a solid, rust free 56' drivers door??? Dont be bashful everyone... step up
I've been to the Supernationals one time--I think it was 2011. It was in the parking lot pictured above. It's a great show. I enjoyed walking through it, browsing the booths, and meeting fellow FTE members, and the swap meet. BUT, I'm also glad I was free to go after making the round and seeing what I wanted to see, because it was quite hot that day. Apparently, last year was even hotter. And after it was over, a lot of people were expressing their displeasure with sitting in a hot parking lot all day long and doing the typical "show" type thing. That's what got me to thinking about doing the get-together at my place in the first place. I go to Pigeon Forge all the time. Let's hope it's cloudy and overcast this time around (but not raining). That blacktop can be a killer in the sun.
We are already working out the details for the trip up and the return. I am also going to be bringing my nice camera so I can record and log any and all great ideas I find. If everything goes as planned I should have the 55 up and running with the new frame and a killer front end mod to make the truck as dependable as I can possibly think be done. I can't tell you and the rest of the forum how helpful all of the chatter has been with helping us to make this one really nice 55. She will not be fancy so to speak, but she will be a head turner in her own rights. I really like the simple way you suggested I go about adding power steering without having to chop the hell out of the frame. My only other major fix is the exhaust, and that will be a true custom dual with SS heat shields under the bed I want to tuck them up tight and parallel to the drive shaft so that it looks like it was a factory set up. Figure once I have the correct foundation to this build the rest will fall into place. Sure was a shame to see how someone could take such a nice cab and sheet metal and screw it up to hell. Some day I will figure how to get pictures on this site posted. I keep reading, but I just never tried loading something the way they say I have to do. Maybe once I get all my other projects done I can finally sit down and figure that out.
My Wife and I plan to arrive mid day on Thursday and stay til Sunday. After 9 years of planning and building, we wouldn't miss it. We're pre-registered there and also for the Blue Suede Cruise in Tupelo May 3, 4, & 5. Hope to meet and greet y'all there (one or both!). I'm seriously considering bringing my ez-up tent for parking lot duty though our room is walking distance right across the Little Pigeon River @ Willow Brook Lodge. Later, Steve
