" COMPUTER POWER" how to get it!!

Hello guys, can anyone tell me how to get more power from the computer in my truck, or if it is even possible.? I have an 86 f150 that is stock all but my new headers which gave it a small increase in power, yes enough to notice. My tires are just 31' 10x50, with no lift or anything, but I was curious about being EFI if it was possible to increase HP by the computer. You guys have been very very good in the past about answering m5 posts, and I GREATLY APPRECIATE THAT !!! Thank you for ant intel you may have and one day I hope I can reciprocate the advice. You can't do much with these computers. I do have a book on them though, and in the back he has a cheap trick you can try and see if it does anything. But it will hurt your fuel mileage I am sure. He says you can take the engine coolant temperature sensor plug off, and put a 5500 ohm resistor across the plug terminals.

He said putting the resistor there, will make the computer think the engine has never warmed up. It will add more fuel and more timing advance to the engine. But he said you have to make sure you are using quality gasoline or you might get pinging and detonation.

One of the biggest problems with the 86 302 EFI, it has the absolute worst heads Ford ever installed on these engines. I have one question, where did you put your O2 sensor? The original location on an 86 is rear of the right exhaust manifold and it is an unheated one wire sensor. What Franklin mentioned is an old trick, that dates back to the early Bosch D-Jetronic systems. You can add a small "trimmer" potentiometer in the engine coolant sensor wire and experiment with it. This allows the same "tricking" of the computer without it being a fixed value.

Thank you Mr. Bumkin for the links, they were very helpfull. I had the 02 sensor put in the Header collector on the right side about in the same spot as factory. I clicked on the G-Force link on this forum, it said install two wires at the IAT connector. Has anyone had any experience with these or used one?? I truly thank you guys for any intel. Oh and what the heck is the IAT sensor Lol ?? "Semper Fi"

Intake Air Temperature sensor. You must be running shorty headers on it in order to be able to use that location. You may need to go to a heated O2 sensor like Ford started using in 1987.
