Just curious if anyone is using the cheap ebay coils on their truck. seeing that my truck has been so mistreated, i would prefer to replace all the coils now, however only way i can afford that is to use the cheap ebay crap ones. a whole set with motorcraft plugs could be had for around 150 bucks. let me know what you guys think before i go and spend the dough for ten coils.

You can't mistreat a vehicle in such a manner that would cause the COPs to go bad; these aren't a normal maintenance item, why would you replace good coils? Are you misfiring? If so you should diagnose where the problem is and replace the defective part. The majority of times a COP should last the life of the engine; of course they can go bad, but that hardly requires replacing all of them.
I'm using one eBay COP at the moment with good luck. I've heard some have trouble with them though, and I think most of us will agree that you're best off keeping your stock COPs than replacing them all with cheap eBay ones.
I had 2 coil packs go bad at the same time, causing major malfunction, flashing OD light, CEL, and an undrivable condition. I diagnosed one on my own by unplugging while engine was running, but the other one had me stumped so I limped it to a shop.
I just went ahead and replaced all 10 with Motorcraft parts. Reliablility Is important to me. I found the best deal through RockAuto.com. They will come with the rubber boots and springs.
I had bought 8 ACDelco COPs for my Crown Vic from a guy on Ebay who maintained taxi fleets. It was bull... the BOX was ACDelco. The COPs worked fine though.

I used the cheap coils from ebay and 3 of them went bad. I told the seller and he sent me replacements..... this was on an Expedition I had..... the ebay coils were working when I sold the vehicle.....
I used a set on my 02' 5.4 Expedition because I had no time to diagnose my misfire issue so I replaced them all. I found the junk one and kept the remaining 7. It's a good thing too because I had 2 plugs blow out of the head and destroy those coils and I put the Ford ones back in and it still runs fine. They've been in the truck for over a year. I did look for the seller that seemed the most legit with good feedback not just the cheapest. Good luck

I guess you could drive it like a submarine a few times... couple trips to the bottom of the sea might do it, other than that you're right
mine all had green/white corrosion and many misfires. thats what started my whole coil issue.
Sort of off-topic: I found out by accident (I was trying to loosen the terminal screw) that WD-40 makes pretty short work of the corrosion on a battery cable.
