Whenever the tail gate changed will make a difference in MY fitment. my cap came off a 2010 I believe, and fits my 99 because it has a full door on the back. The tailgate has been removed. Basically the beds are the same but the tailgate profile is different. I believe that change took place in 2010.

It's going to depend upon whether each truck has / had the tailgate step which was introduced in 2008. The contour of the tailgate is different on trucks with the step versus non-step trucks.

My 2009 does have the tailgate step. The 2013 does not. It looks as if the lip on the cap door can be removed. It may just be as easy as getting a new plastic lip. It would still be cheaper that a new cap. Thanks for the replies.
