Nothing in the glove box provided any clues? Mine had paperwork back to the original owner. Might try tracking down dealerships in the area where it lived before, see if you can finagle some customer information out of them.

Nothing in the usual places. Originally purchased in TX. Have not checked with that dealership.
Can't you do the vin number and Carfax thing to find out, maybe ask them to give your phone number to the previous owner and have them call you. They can't give out personal information but perhaps they can contact someone related to that truck or an auto sales place your truck was possibly tied to at one time...??
I had to find the previous owner of my truck yesterday, called the auto place it was bought from as they were on the title. They got ahold of the previous owner, the guy I bought it from whom bought it from them, for me. He called me for a signature on the title that was missing of his.

I have tried everything, including tracking down 4x shops looking for the builder. So far 1 shop thought they might know but a month later no word. As far as car fax it will tell you if a dealer is involved, like the original purchaser, will tell you if made out of the US the prep for import but will not give you details beyond title transfer to Arcata, CA and the date. In this case only dealer appears to be in Bryan TX, the rest of the transfers were private party. The shops listed on carfax are all from the owner we purchased from. I will post this on a couple of other forums and see, if nothing, then will discover the details as needed. More a curiousity thing than anything else.
My son bought this truck a couple of months back. We picked it up in Grass Valley CA, it was originally purchased in Bryan TX. From there it went to Louisiana for a few years then to Arcata CA. This is where the rack was added maybe the other accessories as well. We are trying to find the owner or owners that installed the modifications. If anybody recognizes this would you pass the word. Thanks
Where in Louisiana?
One possible link here is that Bryan, TX and Arcata, CA are both college towns, so to speak.
Bryan is the neighboring/adjoining city of College Station, home to Texas A&M, and Arcata, home to Humboldt. Both universities have Forestry schools and the timber industry is big in Louisiana.
Speaking of which, I once worked in the timber industry in Oregon, so small world, eh?
TX A&M is big on connections and is known for keeping their student body tied together with cult-like bonds. If the owner was an Aggie, chances are, you might be able to find him via alumni-oriented social networking avenues.
Question is, was this truck sold and moved to all of those places, or was it owned by a single individual who lived in all of those places?
Secondly, what could be the possible employment link for an owner that would tie both Arcata and the Louisiana location together?
This is an interesting hunt you're on, I'll be interested to see how it goes for you.

Good info. I will find the carfax report and look at it from that angle. Where in Oregon did you work? Indeed a small world.
