New motor

Have 1989 Ranger 4X4 automatic, 2.9 L. Want to swap it out for a larger V-6 or a small V-8. I don't want to have to replace the trans., computer, or relocate the motor mounts. I just want to take out the 2.9 and bolt in the new motor.
Is there such an animal on this planet that will work? I would appreciate all parts list I need to complete this project and God's help.
Thanks for any information you may provide.

Welcome to FTE!!!

The 4.0 is the easiest swap but you would still need to replace some components.

Thanks for the info. I plan to get a completely NEW motor with all new accessories (pumps for a.c., power steering).I mainly don't want to have to fabricate new motor mounts or buy a new transmission and driveshaft.
