I can't answer your question, but X plan is available for anyone that joins the EAA. The EAA is 25 minutes from me in Oshkosh, WI. It's like $40 to join for an individual.

You can do better than xplan.
Just tell the dealer you pay invoice then subtract rebates and coupons. Every Ford dealer I have purchased from will do this but some put up a little resistance. Just tell them you will go to one of the dozen other dealerships down the road that will. And on the next one will sell at that price.

X plan is pretty easy to get. It's often called the Friends and Family. So just ask around and you can find a Ford employee who is happy to give you. Also organization like the EAA, often have X plan for their members. (there are numerous organization that offer this)
I've posted a request asking for X plans on sites that employees frequent and never had to wait more than a day or two to receive an X plan pin. Most employees appreciate your business and know if you don't buy, they don't have a job. So they are happy to share their X plans

Yessir Labcab - for that twin turbo Explorer sport for the wife....
and MAYBE that Black Platinum I test drove
even though they are hard to find, the explorer @ msrp is out of the question ...
even at xplan is too high...
invoice or better is what I was thinking....
just wondered how deep into holdback I could go ?

If you shop around, you should have no problem getting to invoice and then subtracting rebates. It also depends upon how far you want to travel to make the deal and taking those expenses into consideration. There are four dealers within a 40 mile radius of my place where I can buy for invoice, less rebates. And of the two of them, I have even gotten prices that have dipped into holdback. Cars.com and eBay have several volume dealers who have excellent pricing. One in particular is Ted Britt Ford in Northern VA. They regularly dip below invoice and subtract rebates from that.

I actually ditched the X-Plan when I bought my 2012 a few weeks back. I shopped three dealers until I found the one most eager to move a previous year model for approx. $11,000 off sticker. They claimed that they could take more out of the deal without using the X-Plan.. Take that for what it's worth. I question most statements made by salesmen. Regardless, traded a 2013 F-150 that didn't turn out to be what I wanted and still very happy with the swap.
