Hi Frm3, welcome aboard!
Let's start off from the beginning... If the spark plugs are in the shape of \\//, then we are talking about an FE engine, which from the C0A (C is 60's vintage, 0 is the year) casting on the intake, I think that is were we are heading. Problem being, that motor was not available in the 64 truck line... The issue with the FE engine line is that you could have anywhere from a 352 to a 428. There are also casting numbers, similar to the C0AE on the heads, in the middle, which will help out. If you know the engine is factory, post the door tag and we will assist in the identification process.

It could be anything for all I know. I was told it was the origanal engine (292) rebuilt with 2k miles on it. I bought it as a daily driver and to teach myself about engines. I bought the shop manual and started tinkering. I've noticed ALOT of things that are different. Not so much with the block but eveything else that can be bolted on... Anyhow, right behind the fuel pump there is what looks like some sort of breether or something(looks like a coke can with a tube out the bottom). And it started to throw oil out of its seems. Went to take it off and the coke can part came of with just a slight nudge.
This has gotten pretty long winded, Sorry. Just thought I would tell you how i got to the point of starting from the beginning and finding out what kind of engine is in it.
Sounds like a 292. Should have just 2 bolts in each valvecover and they are on the top. That is the crankcase breather that you are talking about. That was help pull crankcase pressure out of the engine when driving down the road. A long time before emission rules!! New cars and trucks run a hose to the air cleaner to accomplish this.

I can't find anything about it in the manual. The cover for the breather has come off and it looks like it never had a way to be attached. I thought maybe the pcv valve was clogged but after looking all over I found no such system. The airfilter is an after market so I figured it was eliminated with the old air filter.
The air cleaner wouldn't of had anything on thaty old of a truck. I am thinking that the canister crews on?? I think that my old 63 292 had a pcv valve and it was behind the carb, maybe a little to the passenger side? I will look at it today when I go down there and get more details.
Jimmy
so my book is missing the ID page so I pulled out the cdrom and along with some websites found this out.
The door says 64 f100 wimbledon white (custom cab)
292-2v Made in chicago 11/63
The engine is a 1960 Galaxie 292. rebuilt 3k ago.
Thanks for all your help. Now when I go in to a parts store I can actually get the right part!
Good deal, I haven't had a chance to check out my 292 yet, I am hoping to get down there tomorrow. I had my canister off once, but I can't remember how I did it, hopefully by looking at it, I can remember.
Jimmy
The code I have is located behind the carb. and is
COAE-8425-F
also 2E31 is located just below the COAE
Thanks!

I can help you with this
It is an Intake manifold that was designed in 1960 and had been re-designed 5 times and cast on May 31 st of 1962 for a large ford car
A 62 Galaxie fits the mold.
Your guess (answer) is better than mine. What else could I look at on the engine to find out more?
Like I said before I thought I bought a 64 f100 with its origanal engine rebuilt. Its pretty interesting some of the modifications.
Sorry, One More thing. i thought this was the code;
C - 196X
O - the 0 in 1960
A - Galaxie
E - Engine Code
Then the number is a serial type # and the F is for ?.
