I just replaced the valve seals in my 360 and, of course, found the petrified remnants of the old seals floating around. There were only 2 that came off whole, most of the rest of them must in the pan by now and/or clogging up my drains. I cleaned out the drains as best I could, but I could only get a pick 3-4 inches down the hole to fish out pieces. I know the right rear is still clogged, because I could see it not draining, but I crossed my fingers that it would wash itself out and put it back together. Smokes worse than ever.
Any ideas for something I can use to get further down the drains to clean them out, or am I missing something?
I was cleanning the crud out of my oil pan and found this along with the #8 piston skirt! Looks to be a baffle that came loose(?) I guess that explains the low compression on #8 and excessive blow-by.
Yes, it looks to be a baffle that was spot welded to the pan. I'm not familar to which engines used a baffle in the oil pan. The best I can tell, it's a 68 390 engine that was in my '66 F100 when I purchased it.
