Who upgraded there 6.0L alt to a 140amp, please reply!
So I need a new alt soon. I want a life time warranty so I don't have to spend the money again of course but I want to be happy with it. Knowing I'd be happy with a 220amp but I can't spend that right now for $400.
IF YOU INSTALLED A 140amp alt and your happy with it please let me know! I'd love to order it ASAP to get more juice, thanks!

2 years ago I had a alternator Re-built for my 06' F-350 6.0, the Guy said it's output was upto 170 Amps, he installed a smaller belt pulley so it spins faster at Idle,,,so far its still working, but wish I did a higher output one like around a 250 amp or so,,these trucks have alot of electrical componets on them, and adding a snowplow, (which I've had since day one with this truck), lifting the plow and going into reverse seems to still have a lag or transmission shutter now and then,,,and I think it is all electrical,,does'nt do it with normal driving. I would go with the Biggest amp Alt. I could get !!,,,Mark

So you had the 140 with an over drive pulley, and it was doing 170 and still not enough amps? Wow, but I don't have a snow plow but will be pulling a 32 ft camper. I'm just scared of putting in a lot of money and it lasting 2-3 years when I could have had a warranty. But I do see alot of people saying there's are still going after 3 or so.

There is a huge difference between pulling a trailer and pushing a plow. Plowing makes enormous demands on the electrical system, but you don't have long periods of higher engine speed to charge the battery back up. This is why the Snow Plow Prep option comes with either dual alternators or a single high output alternator.
When towing, you're usually running down the highway for hours on end, at engine speeds are above 1600 RPM, so the alternator spins and the batteries have time and available power to charge.
