I'm getting ready to put my truck back on the road... Will be waking her up on the 10th. I got new battery's today checked the alternator happy to find out its in good working order.... Shhhheeewww. I guess my red tops were just junk... Both sets.... I forgot a fuel filter... Maybe this weekend ill get one.
I filled her up with amsoil 5w-40. I even went to the extent of draining the hpop (I know I know). I went to check the oil level and found I needed to add 2 1/2 quarts. I added it. When I went to put the dip stick back in it wouldn't go past roughly 10".... I had to shove it the rest of the way. It seems its jamming up and I can't tell why. It's been doing this for a little while now. It's like something is blocking the path. I looked for kinks and bends that shouldn't be there. Everything looks normal. Anyone else ever had this problem? Where can I get a new tube if need be? Thanks
Did you try turning the dipstick over and putting it in the other way? You can also take the tube off without pulling the nut from the oil pan and play with it to see what the issue is on a work bench.
I have had this happen before....
Try pushing the top of the tube back towards the cab. Do this with the bracket on the stud and the nut a little loose. Move it a little at a time until the dipstick slides in nice and smooth. The tube sometimes gets smashed down by accident when working over the engine....moving it back into position fixes the sticky dipstick issue every time.
Mine been doing this since the intercooler pipe blow off on time. I didn' see any dents either. I'll have to try that too. Thanks for posting, I hope it works.
