Not a ford question per-se

Ok..well, i have a question but its not really about our trucks. Its about carbs. Figured this bunch of guys could maybe unboggle my brain
I just bought a Holley 570 cfm Aluminum Street Avenger. There were some upgrades on the Aluminum versions from the "regular" avengers such as 4 corner idling and a couple others. Now..I know that Holley's Ultra line of Avengers offer Billet aluminum metering blocks and carb base. The Aluminum and the Ultra are about the same, but the ultra has the pretty colors. Was curious if anyone knew (through my research i still havent found) if the Aluminum series offered billet metering blocks? Read that tha porosity of the cast metering blocks could cause problems down the line. Sorry for the schpeel!

I see all Holleys causing problems down the line ! Sorry , I burned out on them in the 80's . I got tired of adjusting them each time the temp changed 10 degrees ! I know they will run great when correct . I just don't like them for a daily driver option . I have buddies with GM products that went back to Q-jet because of the same issues . When you get up and go to work at 30 degrees , and get off at 65 degrees , I have seen issues . Just my 2 cents .

I actually don't mind either or I have a 600 cfm eddy right now that I need to put a kit in and some tlc. I never had any complaints. I'm hoping that since the 570 isn't a huge carb that it won't be that finnicky..but I guess well see there's always a can of worms to be opened when talking about carb brands but the way I see it..they're all the devil since they eat the gas we pay 3.70$ a gallon for!

2x with Holleys.. very fussy for a DD vehicle. It's almost as bad as driving a British or Italian car.

Holley race applications are a totally different matter.

Holy smokes....... my analogy sure as heck conjured up alot of bad but memorable moments just like the Solex carb on old 76 Rabbit. Ngeeesh.

Have a beer fellas...there, there....it's alright.. Vic Edelbrock provides us carburetion options!!!!!!

Wow...guess I must be a lone wolf. I love my Holleys. Won't own anything else. Have THREE vehicles with 2x4's on them. What is not to like and I don't know what needs to be adjusted constantly???

Back in early 80's, friend had '72 Bonneville with 455 and a spreadbore Holley on it. That thing was a swiss watch. Sit for months, go out, tap the pedal once to set the choke and it would fire off in less then 1 second and with another tap it would settle down to a perfect idle. Ran like a raped ape!!! Of course with the fuel they make today gasket don't last like that anymore.

I took an Edelbrock off my transplanted 460 to put on an Autolite 4300. I'm old school and like the "Ford on a Ford". It probably won't have enough power curcuit if I tow something with my 68 camper Special put I'm not a Carter fan. Freightrain....you're not alone. I like Holleys also. I've rebuilt a million of them over the years with nary a problem. If the Autolite comes back off in the future a Holley will go on.

I really hate Autolites.........only for the **** poor design for the accel pump linkage. Always fails and stumbles. Can't keep enough lube on the spring to keep it working well. They go to the circular file and a Holley goes on.

Granted Freightrain, it doesn't have the response as my 2003 harley F150 (LOL) but it's a 1973 town car carb so it's better than the early ones. When I rebuilt it I put in a N.O.S. spring. The trouble is Ford designed the travel to bias the primary bores. It's perfect on the primaries but does hesitate hitting the secondaries hard. I was after "the look" I mentioned earlier and probably the one MPG it will get me at $3.80/gal.

Got my carb in today!!! Talk about excited! It's amazing how a piece of mechanical linkages and bowls makes a man excited haha I guess we've all been there. This is my first brand new carb. I almost don't want to put it on I looked everything over..hooked up the fuel fittings. Checked some linkages and made a pump adjustment (needed it bad). Not sure when this bad boy will be on the 300. Can't wait.
I did notice (holley standard) that the secondary bowl float is nitrile plastic and the primary is brass. I'm aware this is the norm for them (checked with holley) but I wonder why they do that? Why not both brass? Is nitrile ok?
