check engine light
1. my check engine light came on several weeks ago and i pulled the codes. i got a code 176 "left bank lean". i took the vehicle to my mechanic to figure out what was causing the check engine light. he found the sensor had a broken wire and he replaced the sensor. well guess what, i still get the same code about 3 minutes after starting the vehicle.as i was in a hurry to get the vehicle back, i didnt leave it for further testing. i've checked for vacuum leaks, cleaned the maf and still have the problem. whats the chances i got a bad replacement sensor and how can i test it. i understand that they produce a voltage output based on oxygen content andthat it varies from about .2-.9 volts. with the vehicle off should i be able to read any voltage and is a low reading a sign of lean condition.
2. how does the vehicle know that you are driving with the gearshift in OD versus Drive. i ask because i understand that when in Drive, it shouldnt upshift into 4th gear. mine does anyways whether in Drive or OD.
hate to be long winded but i need help and wanted to post as much info as i could for all to help me thanks
