Looking for advice
Just bought a 1985 f150 4x4 with 351w. Looking to add headers and exhaust for a better sound. It is completely stock with single exhaust and is very quiet. Hence the problem, would like it to have a throaty rumble. Any input would be appreciated.

My advice is don't do headers. I don't know that all are this way, but I'm working on Bruno2's Bronco and the shorty headers on it make it extremely difficult to get the spark plugs in or out. I would go with the factory manifolds and put dual Magnaflows on. Not Flowmasters, or at least not short Flowmasters as I don't like noise. But I like a low rumble and that's what the Magnaflow gives, IMHO.

I have never had a truck with the shorty style headers, but I know all of the engines I have had full length headers on had plenty of room to access all spark plugs.
I prefer the "old school" sound, so my trucks get full length headers and good ol' glasspacks. IMO nothing sounds better then a healthy powerplant exhaling through some long tubes
