R the 460 motors that came in the 1985 E-350 vans any good.
I have one that I bought new in 85 then I sold the van. The person that bought it from me will let me have it back at no charge. It still runs great but I will do an overhaul on it anyway.
I just want to make sure it is worth it. Also would like to know what kind of problems would I run into trying to put this motor in a 1989 F-250 4x4 that had a 351 in it with a standard transmission.
This motor is the same as the truck version...it should bolt right in with no problems. Taking it out is gonna be fun though ...I have an 85 250 with a 460 and I love it.
You will have to reposition the motor mounts and move the radiator forward (or get a low-profile elec. fan) Otherwise you shoudn't have too many other problems!
Happy wrenching

If it's a good 460 you had better grab it, especially if it's free!
The machine shop that did my heads and machine work said the older 460's are getting harder to find all the time.
A place in Texas sells a direct bolt on motor mount, sorry, I can't remember the name. The bell housing will not work along with anything else inside (clutch, pressure plate, etc.) The flywheel for a 460 is about twice as thick as the one on the 351. The easiest way would be to get the mounts and a auto tranny C-6 with the correct length tail shaft.
I've got a 78 I'm in the process of doing the same thing to...Good luck...
