some time ago I started changing my lights to LED's and so far so good until I pulled the front blinkers and replaced them with these 2012 Ford F250 F450 Front Turn Signal LED Replacement Bulbs | LED Lights for Cars | 12v | Super Bright LEDs
I'm no engineer and wiring makes me crazy. I realize I need a resistor to slow down the flash rate so what is recommended and the easiest to do that I can find at an autozone and the like?
I'm all for changing out the entire headlamp assembly for projector beams too so throw those out if you have suggestions but don't make me miss a mortgage payment.
i wasn't sure if the Super Duty's had conventional flasher relays still or not. if they do, that is by far the easiest route. most vehicles today do not have the flashing relay, so the load resistor will always work.
just go the parts store and have them look up a flashing relay and get the one marked "electronic" or "digital" and that will work. the last one i bought was about $25, but that was quite a few years ago.
^^^^ Good point on the flasher. From what I can tell, the OP has a 2012 truck. Not sure if those have the flashers or not.
Montey,
You'll want to find that out first. If it does, definately the way to go. The next question you would probably ask is, where the hell is the flasher located???? At least on the 07's and earlier, it is located way up under the dash next to the radio. Best way to get it is to remove the dash. On my 06, removing the dash was very very easy. Less than a minute to take the dash off, took me about 10 minutes to disconnect the headlight plug. I was doing it in a low light situation and had a hard time seeing things (my old eyes didn't help either.)

What year is your truck? If it's an '11 or newer, don't buy resistors or replacement flashers. Take the truck down to your dealer and have them reprogram the BCM per SVE Q-158R3 to accommodate the LED's. The SVE can be found here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...ml/Q-158R3.pdf
you wont believe this but the STEALER told me it's $125 to have the re-flash posted on the bulletin. What a crock of sh........t!!
Anyone know where I can find LED bulbs with built-in resistors?
Thanks.

WOW....what a rip off.
Go to superbrightledlights.com. They have some built-in resistor blinker (3157) led's for vehicles with a can bus system. I'm not 100% sure but I think they would work.
