Has any one successfully installed a mass air kit with a non efi cam?1988 to 1997 speed density. Such as a 268 or a 270.Pro-M and Interactive kits, possibly a mustang 5.0 EEC-IV.,and or supercharger.Any good results? Any highlights would be appreciated,THANKS
I'm in the middle of gathering all the parts needed to do the same project on my '55 F-100. Here's what I have compiled so far:
A computer and as much of the harness you can get from an 89-93 mass air Mustang 5.0, preferebly one from the A9L family.
An 80mm mass air sensor from a 93-95 Lincoln Mark VIII, possibly a meter from a 99-00 Lightning or a 90mm meter from an 01-02 Lightning. The 460 uses #24 injectors and these meters are setup for the same. Although the Lightning uses #42 injectors, the computer adjusts for this. You could also go with the aftermarket meters such as Pro-M or C&L, just make sure the meter is calibrated for the same size injectors you are going to run on the 460.
Dual heated 02 sensors.
To make all of this work properly you need to get an EEC-Tuner, TwEECer, Ford EPEC or some other kind of electronic box that plugs into the J3 port of the Mustang computer that will allow you to change certain parameters of the computer to work with the 460. Parameters such as the MAF transfer, injector firing order, engine size, idle, etc...
if you don't have to pass smog..why not just buy an aftermarket efi kit...???? not real cheap, but everything is included and no guess work...save a bunch of time too.
