Unfortunately there is no decoder ring for 'take offs' (used springs). You have to trust the seller to tell you where they came from. I bought used and have had no issues, but I'm not terribly fussy .
Well, my main worry was shipping being more than new springs.
I talked to the Tousley boys in MN. Luckily, I have a friend in the area that will be making a trip to the Columbus swap. Free shipping on new parts at the cheapest price. This means that I will be getting the new units with the correct codes. I plan on buying u-bolts and hardware as well. I even OK'd it with my financial advisor (wife) so its a go!!
My next question: When I called my local dealer (just to see what my employee discount was) , they said I couldnt order without a VIN. I dont have a VIN for a 250 for the front springs. Is there a way via verbiage to get around this? Will Tousley want the same? Or should I just tell them what Im doing and give them the codes?
Also, regarding U-bolts, do I get the stock ones for the front and the SD's for the rear? I plan on getting the 250 tapered blocks for the rear so I think I need the longer ones.
Next I need to find a deal on a sway bar and RAS setup.

Post number 16 above. Click the link. The Ford part numbers for the V code fronts and B code rears are listed.

Order by the part number.

Right, I gave them the part number and the code (V) but they said they needed a vin before the manager would let the order go through. They know me and I let them know what Im doing......said if theres no vin, they would call me and tell me they wont order without one no matter who it is. Policy shmolicy.
I'll see what Tousley says when I order.
BTW, anyone have any 250 rear tapered spring blocks for sale trade?? Or, if you have some you could measure and get a picture of, I can try to find some locally.

I meant with Tousley.
Tousley will order by part number for you. Just make sure to ask for Steve, or at least let them know you're with FTE, a forum they sponsor.
BTW, that's a stupid policy for your dealership to have.
You should ask the manager what he does when a person who owns an Excursion (or an F250 that didn't come with the snow plow package) wants to upgrade to the X code springs that Ford used in the F250/350 trucks equipped with the snow plow package, because they are putting a snow plow on the front of their rig.
It's called an upgrade for a reason. They are being short-sighted and can't see the forest for the trees.

What would be the drawbacks of doing only the rear springs? Im working on a budget but still need to do some towing. Im thinking of rears and the sway bar for now. Later adding the RAS and fronts. Also, if I did the rears and not the fronts, what blocks should I use in the rear?

It would really suck to have to remove the rear U_bolts AGAIN
when you did the front springs to change the block to level it out again.
You might do front & rear springs together, do the fronts first
so you can decide which block gives the rear the look you want.
If needed, the RAS will give you about another inch of lift in the rear - in the future.
Adding RAS and/or Hellwig to the rear are each a bolt-on
neither really getting in the way of the other.
Can't help with block sizes, I'm 2wd, but it seems like EVERYBODY does
the front springs on the 4wd to get off the bump stops..
Hmm, well, it seems I can get the same price at my local dealer as I can at Tousley. So, time not critical on ordering the springs. I can get parts as money permits.
