My Akita will sit and stare off at the neighbor's house, the deer across the creek, or even birds flying by. Strangely observant dogs.

It was my understanding that he was on the ice for three days. He was scared everytime they would try to get him. He broke through and they finally got him.

The story was on the news. If I remember correctly, the poor thing was scared of the rescuers.
