I am looking at what i have been told is a 5 speed transmission that was behind a 302 when pulled. not sure of what year/model it came from though or what trans it is. He said the number on the side is 13-61-065-907 and it says borg warner below the numbers. anyone know what kind of tranny this is?
I believe that is a t-18. Look at the drivers side twards the front at the bottom and clean the rust and grease and it should be cast in it t 18. Also the top cover twards the rear should have t 98 cast into it. Go to novack-adapt and it will tell you more.
ok. thats what i was thinking too but he claims it is a 5 speed , have not seen it in person only trough those pictures so i will ask if there are any more numbers
I have a t 18 in my shed and that is where I found the id numbers. The t 98 is a carry over from the t 98. It shares the same top cover as the t 18 just the reverse is in a different place. T98 far right and up, t 18 far right and down.
thats what i am saying, it looked like a 4spd to me from the longer shifter and how the top plate came off. just did not get anything to pull up from the numbers to show if it is a 5 speed like the guy is saying or a t18.

Have the guy look at the Warner T-18 trans case part number again, as it should read: 13-01-065-904 = Ford part number:
T-18 introduced in 1965: Reverse is UP = towards the dash.
NP435 also intro'd in 1965, reverse is DOWN = towards the seat.
Circa 1973: T-18's shift pattern changed to: reverse is DOWN = towards the seat.
Cool. :)
Thanks, Bill. :)
My first Ford company truck was a no-frills F250 2wd Bump Side with
an i6 300(?) and now I'm figuring it was a T18 because of the shift
pattern. When I got my brand new '75 F150 with a T18 the shift was
different and was wondering about it...
"some thing's not quite right here!"
That F260 with the i6 and 4 speed and "posi-traction" (that's what my
partner, a Chevy guy, called it) would gently roll through sandy places
others would get stuck in. :) It was pretty cool, me and my partner
called it "our 4wd". It came with big tires, no chrome and no radio. :)
We re-wired the SPRR signals for 4th-indication (flashing yellow) from
Picacho AZ to Lordsburg NM using that pickup. :) R.I.P. Rodney Amick.
