front driveshaft with d60 swap

On my 78 f150 4x4 Scab: I'm installing the Dana 60's I recently bought and have run into a small hickup, which I can fix but I was wondering about.

Truck originally had a d44 up front. Apparently the front driveshaft on the d44 is about 1 1/2" longer than the one that came with the d60. So, I'm going to swap them to solve that issue.

Now, when I put a 6" lift on the truck later, I will have to have a longer d/s on the front correct? Will the 1 1/2" longer one be long enough to take care of that issue? I kinda remember reading you have to add 2" to the d/s but can't remember. Anyone done the swap then lifted later? I'll try to get a side by side in a bit when I get the long one out.

Doesn't the 60 have larger u-joints and yoke?

I'll check, but I have the whole drivetrain from the f350 so I'm good if it does.

*****Nope, both ujoints are the same.
********Well, the axle ends are the same, F350 has a bigger yoke at the transfer case. Guess I'll swap yokes too.

f150 stock is the black one

How are you running a CV drive shaft in the front? Using degree shims or clocking your spring pads in the front screws up your caster angle. I'm not saying it can't be done but I would figure this would be a no no for the street. The only way I know of to properly do this is to re weld your outer C's to the right angle while tipping your yoke up to point at your transfer case yoke. I'm real curious since I have a cv shaft in the rear and since I'm doing a 60 front swap too. I would love to have a cv shaft there as well.

They are stock driveshafts from my supercab and my f350. I did not change them. My f150 did not have the same setup

I wonder if its just a case of its better than a non cv shaft. I know my 60 front has the yoke angle about 9 degrees pointed up compared to the spring pads. I guess I'll have a cv shaft made up since it probably came with one with the dana 60 front.
