Looking to replace passenger side front hub bearing -- a little noisy now.
Any thoughts on these no name brands? Are these reliable?
I would like to get Timkens but they are at least double the price.
I dont cheap out on parts, and especially wouldnt on something that holds my front wheels on. Timken may be more expensive, but its made in the USA and a 100% high quality part
OK, did a little more digging and found out Timken Part# 515020 will work on the Ex. See link below: Timken Wheel Hub by - JCWhitney&
Also searched eBay and found the same Part# 515020 which is much cheaper but it does not show Timken anywhere but the same Manufacturer part #.

Are these hubs both made by Timken?
I guess I can email the ebay seller to see if its labeled Timken.
If its that cheap, i would guess no. I would just get the wheel bearing from rockauto or amazon and be done with it...i bought it from amazon and it was a 100% quality timken part.
It's $80 a year...I think you can get a free trial with it. Definitely worth it in my opinion, free 2 day shipping on anything that says prime eligible (good chunk of stuff) and $4 one day shippin on same stuff
You'd probably have to read the fine print for Alaska, lol
A lot of people use Timken and Nationals part #'s for ease of reference, it does not mean you are getting the same part. Only way to tell is a physical check, and especially if you can get a close up of the markings on the bearing edge/rim itself.
The last wheel bearing I got was from NAPA for about $90, said made in China on the box.
What is interesting is that mine didn't come with the four mounting studs, but the eBay one pictured shows them so I am assuming it comes with them.
What is also interesting is that the fine thread version from NAPA costs almost $200. If I had fine thread I'd be tempted to buy the course thread version and move my old studs over.
So I decided to go with Timkens for the obvious reasons. I figured might as well do both sides while I'm at it. If one is bad, the other one is probably on its way.
Searched online for the best deals and came across a decent deal on a pair of Timkens for $281 including shipping. It showed as the last pair available so I called them to make sure they are still available. I also asked the guy to see if they come with the mounting studs and oring. The guy was nice enough to have someone verify the contents of the box -- studs and oring were there.
Can't wait to get this job done -- doesn't seem too difficult to do. Hopefully no surprises.
