I GOT A 2003 F150 4X4 XLT EXT CAB AND I DONT WANT TO VOID FACTORY WARRANTY BY TOUCHING ANYTHING PRE-CAT. I HEARD THAT BASSANI AFT-CAT SYSTEMS AS WELL AS FLOWMASTERS PROVIDE BEST PERFOMANCE/SOUND/ FUEL ECONOMY OVER MOST OTHER BRANDS. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO THE SPECIFICS? RIGHT NOW I WAS THINKING EITHER A BASSANI AFT-CAT WITH A QUIET THUNDER MUFFLER WITH 3 1/2" PIPES OR A FLOWMASTER AMERICAN THUNDER WITH ANY SIZE PROB AROUND 2"-3 1/2". PLEASE HELP ME!
I have the Bassani Quiet Thunder catback on my Bronco, and I love it. Its high quality, has a great exhaust note, and gave me some nice power (I have the whole system, headers to tip). Seeing as it is a new 2003, I dont think you would need to change the Y pipe or manifolds yet, unless you wanted to . The kit for your truck is 3.5"? Thats nice. Mine only came in 3". I have run Flowmaster in the past, but I didnt like the crackle upon deceleration. This Bassani gives me a mellow note through the entire rpm band, as well as deceleration. I would highly recommend it. Gibson is nice too (if you like quiet). I had one on a 01 F150.
Yea thats the only size they make for my specs. but do any of yall think its gonna be too big? I know a friend with a 3 1/2" on his z71 and hes said hes got much better performance off his new 3"

Is your buddies truck 3.5" all the way from the headers, or just the cat-back? The only place that exhaust size really matters is in the manifolds. Everything after them could be anything...doesnt matter at all. The smaller the primaries, the more low end torque, the bigger, the higher end horsepower. I think you will find that Bassani catback will suit you nicely. I dont know if the newer applications are the same, but I know that my Bassani Y pipe (96 Bronco) is a true 3" pipe. 3" in and out of the cat is very nice! That might be something to look at further down the road.
