I have a 1977 F-100. I have no lights in the instrument cluster. I have completely rebuilt the cluster. Rear housing, printed circuit, regulator, all new bulbs, etc. They worked for a while then, if I remember correctly, only half of them worked, then, they all were out. Now, even the turn signal lights will not flash. Can anyone tell me where to go from here? Thanks.
I just finished wrestling this issue! I'd start with the fuses make sure they are good to go. If those are fine I'd move to the headlight switch and make sure it's working properly. I had an issue in my headlight switch of one of the wires coming loose that was cutting power. After that I found out the LED's I installed were drawing more than 3Amps and poping the fuse (had to move up to a 5amp).
Also quick note the little contacts that make contact with the printed circut sometimes get corroded and need to be cleaned up and bent out a bit to ensure good contact with the circut.
Thanks, Brad. Everything that I have read about this was pointing towards the headlight switch. I was just looking for someone else's opinion. Thanks again, I'll try the H/L switch.
Pull the headlight **** out to one of the two stops and turn the **** all the way counter-clockwise. Measure the voltage on BOTH sides of the dash illumination fuse, and report your results.
I'm not really sure what you're asking. There is wiring that runs from the turn signal switch to the cluster. There is wiring that starts at the headlight switch, passes through the fuse panel, and runs up to the instrument cluster.
Please take the voltage measurements I've specified and post back once you have those results.
