2wd to 4x4 swap

a friend of mine has a dana 44, c6 and transfer case and some of the frame from a 4x4 bump side that hes giving me end of the month.

right now i have a 2wd f100.

i know the frames are different and steering box is in a different location but is there anyway to still convert to 4x4 with a 2wd frame?

i will most likely convert to front leafs and have a 6-8" lift

will i have any clearance issues with the axle and frame?

how would i go about with the steering?

they way im getting it is basically the whole front half of the frame/suspension/axle/trans/steering/etc. so i should have most of what i need.

i know people are gonna say, "get a 4x4 frame and swap", or "just buy a 4x4". but i dont wanna do that. my truck is in great shape.

if anyone has pics, that will be great!

Doable.... but be prepared! Read the article and then through the thread. The principles are the same between Bumps and Dents...

I did it once. I doubt I'd bother to do it again, I'd go for the frame swap next time.

This is my first try but it wasn't really that hard to pull off. I haven't driven it yet so....well you know. Sounds like you'll have plenty of lift to clear the CM.
