Any one have that flash on their dash? Truck was running fine and the buzzer when off and dash said I think -- when safe stop and shut off engine immediately. Scared the scr-p out of me so not sure if that was word for word. Jump on the binders and got it off the road and called a wrecker. Now it's at the dealer waiting for them in the morning. Checked oil and don't see any leaks. Now I have lost my confidence in the truck. 42000 miles on it.
Ah yes , see this often ! EGT sensors go bonkers , toss code , turn on DIC warning , can cause engine shut down ,no start no run ! I have gone on service calls for many of these . I thank the designers of this system for the easy money maker ! Do the deleat on the Fords , GM has a better system , But... A forced Regin causes crazy high ex temps ! It can make the pavement smoke ! I Know I've done it !
The only way to go ! I work on a few for a company out of Texas . They work all over on power lines . I have installed a few for them . They say they would not be able to use the trucks without them . I got one customer that is hard headed ! So , every 3 month or so , I go pick him up . Off the side of the road ! The EGT sensors don't do well off road , cattle fields , wooded lots , Deep Mud ! But he pays ! My pop always said " you can lead a horse to water , but you can only expect to drown him "
It is a sensor. Bad news backordered after April. It has a tsb on it for it to be replaced. Exhaust reading was 2500 degrees. So toying with a trade while I was there. What else is there to do waiting on the truck. Lariat maybe. They are looking to find sensor some where for it.
Just was informed one was located.. Maybe fixed Friday .
So thanks for the info and making me feel better about the hole thing , at least slept last night not worrying so much about it.
Since many sensors render these trucks useless, there should be no reason for supply chain issues with those items.
'Till April, that's just crazy.
AGREE ! I have no issue finding them at my local Ford dealer . I do not understand the delay either ! The only thing I can think of is a redesigned part . That would explain the delay ! Do not like it , but I have seen it .
If it is going to be that long, one would come off of their service trucks or one on the lot! Then swap a new one in when it comes in. That is ridiculous!
