Is E fuel really worth it?

Hey guys I'm probably beating a dead horse but is the price of E Fuel really worth it? Once your married with kids the extra cash dries up fast as well with the time to search for all the parts needed to do the swap. So your left with buying a kit like the one I've been looking at from barnonediesel.
It looks like a nice kit but almost $900 vs around $100 for a stock pump and lines from Rockauto. The mod list probably isn't going to change much in the next few years, IC and spyder has been in the shed for 2 years now waitng to install

You can build your own kit for 600 dollars.

Totally worth it.

Super duty pump and some filters.
And then you need a regulator.

You can just piece it together month by month if you have the time now and have a kit in 2 -3 months easy.

If your mod list is staying like that for awhile and your not having problems with the fuel system, I'd leave it alone. I absolutely love my E-fuel and personally will never own another OBS without it, but I also can't see myself ever owning a stock injector OBS again. I'm sure having a wife and kids changes things quite a bit though. LOL

I'm with Travis. If you do need a fuel pump then I'd just replace it all the lines and rebuild the fuel bowl

I plan on injectors some day but I've been saying that for quite a while hahaha My pump is starting to leak... not a real big deal since last year I put a whole 2k miles on the truck. But at 4.11/gal it's not like any of us want to waste fuel either!

Most guys draw the line when it comes to the fuel pump as the place to put the e-fuel in.

But if you dont need it, don't spend the money.

I think a new pump is 120-180?

They are not terribly hard to do.

Well I'm not sure what your budget looks like, but like I said.. I love my e-fuel and I'd never get rid of it. I heard the difference at idle and obviously the fuel pulses are non existent now. It's also much less prone to leakage and much better looking in the valley of the engine without that big fuel bowl in there.

IMO, if you want to do a mod, it's a great mod to do, especially if your about to start looking at fixing leaks all over the fuel system. I drew the line when I got tired of fixing fuel leaks all over the engine. 2 fuel pumps, shrader valve leak, water in fuel sensor leak, FPR o-rings, a return line to the FPR, and then the fuel pump bit it again.. When it needed the 3rd fuel pump, I went e-fuel. LOL If you don't need to spend the money though, drop in a stock fuel pump and call it done for awhile til the next leak pops up.

LOL
Thats what I'm afraid of. This truck has been real good as far as not having issues leak wise. My 96 350 cost me $1/mile in repairs for the 5 years I owned it.

I did fuel pump, hoses, rebuilt bowl and FPR about 10,000 miles ago, but I'm getting ready to do e-fuel with Stage 2 injectors. If you decide to just replace your stock pump, PM me and I'll sell you mine cheap when I get it out, if you're not in a hurry to do it.

I just installed the Barnone Diesel kit a couple weeks ago now. I had just got down doing a fuel bowl rebuild and new fuel pump. Nothing wrong with the old one, just figured I'd replace it all at the same time. The fuel bowl started leaking again and so I went straight to the e-fuel kit. I didn't wanna mess with the bowl again and I will be doing bigger injectors before to long anyways. So I to have a brand new fuel pump if you would like for cheap.

x2 on what Travis said. After about the third leak I said, enough! When I bought the Mare (dually) that's the first thing I did, tear out that fuel bowl and all the crap that goes with it. Just to many problems! E fuel is trouble free!

On my '97 daily driver, I kept that one pretty stock with the exception of Stage-1's, 17° HPOP, intake, dp, and intercooler. When the pump went out, I threw another $95 pump at it and the truck is still running awesome to this day with it's new owner, probably 80k miles later.

I simply didn't want to mess with adding an e-fuel set-up on it, I had better things to do with my time than work on my daily driver. Yes, it's a great upgrade, but unless you are gung-ho about puting in e-fuel, just put another pump in, gather parts when you can afford to and maybe in a year or 2 do the complete upgrade.
