I am trying to take the old vent window glass out of the frames. I figured this would be a good time to sind them to the chrome shop since the truck is in the paint shop. The only problem is that the glass that is in there now looks like it has been siliconed in. I thought that by soaking the assemby in carb cleaner the adhesive might dissolve. No luck. Any ideas short of braking them? Thanks, John
I lived this one already. If you can't razor blade it. Soak the whole deal in gasoline. You'll have to be patient though. This may not be a good idea for laminated glass but won't hurt tempered.
Hi Daryl, With all due respect to fenders,(notice the small "f"), the color has been narrowed down to one of two choices still in the running. It's either going to be Fire Pepper Metalic (Acura) or Rock Red Metalic (Honda). The wife gets to make the final call since it will be hers. Both colors are dark red with a small amount of metalic added to give highlights on the features. At one time I was seriously considering the color that fenders used. However, the wife really likes metalic. It should be back from the paint/body shop in about three weeks. I'll post pictures when it comes back. Did you ever get that hood prop problem solved? TAYL, John

John,
Can't wait to see the final product. Sounds like it will look great either way.
No, I haven't solved the hood prop dilemma yet. Haven't really pursued it much; been preoccupied with the IFS install. Just got a call from the muffler shop: my "2 1/4 inch exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers and chrome bias-cut tips coming out in front of rear tires" system is ready.
Right now, I'm lining up a front end allignment, new front tires/wheels, and getting an appointment to have the A/C system leak-tested and recharged. After that, I still have the hood prop, the heads/cam, and the wiper switch dilemma's to solve. Lastly, upholstery (finally!)... then he'll be done. (yeah, mark my words.... LOL)

Those are both very good color choices John. At least they are if your fishing for LM Bass in certain conditions.
Honda??? Acura??? At least have the decency to lie to us.
I thought about lying, but it seems like it always comes back to bite me in the #SS. I was afraid if somebody wanted to actually look up these colors, they would not be able to locate them using the wrong make of vehicle. As far as the LM bass, I'm told it is not the color of the paint that gets them; it's the perfect harmonic vibrations produced by the 67 Mustang 289 at idle that lures them right up onto the shore. Happy fishing, John
I got impatient with the dissolving of the sealer and figured out another way. I heated the frames with my propane torch until the silicone was soft and the glass pulled out. These are painted frames and I am planning on having them chromed so I wasn't worried about the paint getting discolored. Thanks, John
