Just went outside to do the overhead console dimming mod, or whatever its called. Got that right luckly since when trying to pull the prong in the harness, it completely pulled the wire out. It all works though.
As for the questions and part numbers.
1. That mod made it where it doesnt dim when the lights come on, But is there a way to make it brighter?
2. Pulling the kick panel, theres something down there for fuel reset switch. First time to see this, so just curious what its for?
3. The part number. On the bottom of the doors (passenger one in this example) there is rubber weather stripping that keeps water and dirt from coming in. Looking for it on ford sites and cant find a part number.
I knew it was missing a long time back, but didnt see the problem with it until today. Driving in horrible rain last night, and then pulling the kick panel today showed exactly how much water and dirt was coming in through there.

Gee whiz, I didn't have any trouble finding it, cuz I have the Ford truck parts catalog...on microfiche.

Tousley: dealer cost + 10% / Dealer cost for this little charmer is: $17.00.
But as for the part number, thats exactly what I needed. And if all else failed I would have went through Tousley, but the Ford shop here has it and stock. They said they could not match Tousleys price, because thats basically what they pay for it, but he did drop the price to 23.23, so not having to pay shipping at that price I can live with.
Thanks again guys.
*Update*
One more question guys. This stripping is not the same as what im guessing factory was. What is on my drivers side is different, so this brings me to the conclusion this came on a newer vehicle and they made it the standard from 99-12. The what im guessing is 00 stock, looks to be a triangle solid piece that has push pins in it. This piece has the push pins in it, but looks like it should be folded over after the install.
So heres my questions, this is pretty much a flat piece with a little bit of a lip to tuck it into after its mounted. As on my drivers side, and on this side I imagine, the push pins that mount to the door will be covered up after folding it over. So should I put it in where the fold is at the top, and if folds down. Or where it folds up? I dont know if that makes any sense or not.
F81Z is a 1999 F250/350 & F(Super Duty) part number prefix. Parts installed at the factory may not match parts bought at the part counter aka Service Part Replacements.
Sounds good. Dont think this part will work at all. May have to hit a junk yard.
According to Tousley's website, F81Z-2520758-AA fits 1999 thru 2012 F250/350 & F(Super Duty). I added the 2013 application, since it's basically the same truck as 2012.
Yea I understand what your saying, and even verified that it was the one connecting to the door, and it just doesnt seem to work. From factory its like a triangle that fits flush when the door shuts. This one makes a L, and when shuts makes a V according to websites, but shutting the door and getting under the truck it does not seem like a tight seal. Kind of looks and feels cheap.
Here is who I use. They come back nice and bright and easy to read in the daylight. However, if you go this route you will want to keep the dimming feature since it will then be way too bright at night.
the answer to #2 -That is the inertia shutoff switch for the fuel pump. In the event of an accident/ hard jolt, it is supposed to trip to prevent a vehicle fire. You just press it in to reset if it trips. Occasionally one will go bad and cause a no fuel situation but pretty rare.
Greg, mine works but it is dim, did it really brighten it up? If it did I'll send it away.
Thanks,
Chet
Yep.
I have two Lariat trucks. The display in one truck was totally dead. The one in the other truck worked but it was really dim. I could see it at night but not during the day. I sent both off for repair and they both work great now. It took about a week and a half from the time I dropped it in the mail. Best $35 I've spent in a while. They are really bright during the day and perfect at night (as long as the dimming wire remains connected).
The only item you need to be aware of is that your compass may need to be recalibrated for your region. It is really simple, step by step instructions come in the return package.
