Super Single

I have a 1999 F350 CC DRW 4x4 7.3 128,000 1.5 add-a-leaf on front. I'm looking at running super single tires on the back instead of duals. The issue I'm running into is the tire places will not install super singles, because they would require spacers to move the wheel out little. As for the spacers we can not find any that are DOT approved. So if I do this with non DOT approved spacers no one will touch the truck. So does any one know if there is any DOT approved spacers, or another work around to run super singles on the back. Thanks ahead for the help.

Super Singles were the stupidest thing invented for BIG trucks, and imo not a good idea to retrofit onto a pickup.
Just buy yourself a quality set of tires for the rear of your truck and you'll be fine.

I run 255/85/16's on my dually. At ~33" tall, they are the largest tire you can run on a dually without spacers. These are the same height as the 285/75/16's I run on my Excursion (I use an old 255/85/16 for a spare).

If ya really want big rubber, you can run 285/70/19.5's on Rickson 19x7.5 direct-bolt steel wheels. This nearly 35" tall and over 11" wide tire will make your dually look like a steam roller.

These are only 265's...

I'm curious to see what you find. I did not realize the spacers for super singles were not DOT approved. I have had good luck with the Vision 81 19.5" wheels, but my tires for them are skinny 245's.
The 285's are 11" wide? is that too wide for the 7.5" wide Rickson wheel? If not, I agree it would be a better choice for big rubber on our trucks, and likely less expensive than the super singles. Still, 22.5" dia for the supers is pretty cool.

Do you have a Pete's road service in your area? They will install the spacers. I would go with steel only. I've been thinking on going with 285 myself and know they do it. Let us know what you find.

I also looked into these, but they are cost prohibitive to me. They look great though but at what price? Then there is the spare tire issue.

Guys, these big semi truck tires will dry rot and become unsafe before you wear the tread off unless you use your truck for OTR commercial trucking.....the way I look at it, it isn't cost effective.......I would also thing they would make a F250F350 ride even harder than they do stock.
