I GOT MY SECOND OR THIRD LETTER TO TAKE MY TRUCK IN TO HAVE THE PCM MODULE AND NOX SENSOR MODULE REPROGRAMMED, MY TRUCK RUNS PERFECT AND MY MILEAGE IS GOOD, NEVER HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALTHOUGH I ONLY HAVE 5700 MILES ON IT , ITS A 2012 AND I PURCHASED IT IN SEPT 2011. I HAVE SEEN ON HERE WHERE CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD IT DONE AND THEY FEEL THAT THERE MILEAGE AND PERFORMANCE WAS WORSE AFTER THE REPROGRAM, JUST WONDERING WHAT OTHERS ARE FEELING ON THIS, AM I BETTER OFF TO LEAVE IT ALONE OR TAKE IT IN.

me too

Me too! I had mine taken in some time ago and my mileage is great. I get about 11/1 litres per 100 kms and that ain't bad.

Wondering if you don't do it and you have an issue if it might come back and bite you if you have a warranty issue??? Not sure about that one.

They did mine when I had my truck in for a bad nox sensor. Didn't notice any changes after.

I don't believe the milage changes, I believe that the way the computer calculates it does. I hand calculate of fuel receipts, and I have all of them since tank# 1 with actual milage written on each one of them. I noticed no difference, although the displayed avg. fuel economy changed. (went down slightly). I notice when I go to the trip odometer, it will read as though I have used slightly more fuel than I actually have. usually .4-.6 gallons since last reset. for example the pump might read 19.5 gallons pumped when I fill it, but the T/O will read as though I've burned 20 gallons (or a little more).

before the update. The fuel pumped, and the usage recorded on the T/O were usually within .1 gal of each other.

I didn't notice any performance changes after mine was re-programed.

Though, I did ask the dealer to do this update early on and they would not do it under warranty. About a month later I got the flyer in the mail about it from Ford and took that in to my service manager. Then he honored it under warranty. I don't know if he equated it to a recall or what, but with the letter I had no issue getting it done.

If it were me, I would get it done to perhaps prevent the nox sensor failure. To my recollection if it goes the engine will at least derate power, if not limit your speed.

You might get better response if you don't type your complete text with the caps lock on, its rude and hard to read.

You don't always get the exact gallons/litres from the pump even though it shows on the read out. When it is warmer temps, the actually volume pumped in the tank will be less, as the expansion properties of the liquid/gas when temps rise, and you will get slightly more volume when the temps drop...to a point. It is the average that will give you the best reading. It is just science. And I believe it is even displayed on the pumps that volume increases or decreases with temperature changes.
