My parents surprised me by buying me a 2001 7.3L F-250. Im ecstatic, but I am kind of lost at the same time. I am trying to learn as much as I can, so I was hoping for some of y'alls input. Basically what to expect, what not to expect. And what things I should specifically look into. Also, what y'all think about the truck.

Nice truck! My dads got the 7.3 and its really powerful and a great truck. Had it for 10 yrs w/out any major problems... 140k miles (nearly nothing compared to some people)
Welcome and great looking truck. Like Neal ask, where are you located?
Settle in and start reading the threads.
What is the mileage? Is it stock? History?
That looks just like my truck.... sweet... (except I have a cap and tow mirrors and full length running boards) I think you will not need that brush guard so you might as well take it off and send it to me.....
Same as my truck, but you appear to have 2002-style wheels. Suggestion: do mods that improve reliability and make up for the PO's neglected maintenance BEFORE you start hopping it up, if you choose to.
Are you going to tow, or is it just a (cool) driver?
Welcome to FTE. Nice truck. Start reading and you will learn so much your head will swell. Make sure the truck is in great running order first before doing any mods. Dont expect 25 mpg or higher because it will not happen. 20 mpg is achievable on the highway but the truck has to be running great, driving on flat ground and doing under 2000 rpms and baby it, otherwise just expect around 16 unloaded. Driving habits is probably the biggest in mpg's.
Welcome. Tell us a little more about the truck. Mileage... Condition other than what we can see in your picture (nice by the way) if u can get a shot of under the hood well be able to tell you if anything is out of place or aftermarket so you know what you really have or even if you need to do up pipes/gaskets causing boost leaks etc.... I'm in temperance michigan it's a little too far for me to drive to "borrow" parts off of your truck has the Trans ever been replaced or rebuilt that you know of? 2001 depending on the build date is a bad year Trans to have, trust me... I know.... Dadgum mechanical diote!
