So I hit the junk yard in Vegas today. Was looking at sections of drip rail for the crew cab, looks like older econoline vans are going to be a good source. Also noticed that the door swing limiter straps on the econoline looks nearly identical to the original 1960 crew rear door ones which are rusty, and the rubber is gone and they also look slightly flimsy compared to the newer ones which also hold the door open. So I pulled a pair. They installed in the old doors with just two mounting holes and fit up just fine in the stock location!
Old:
Modern one installed, showing the other new one in hand:

Drank a whole half gallon jug of coffee...
Started removing old drip rail:
Rusty rusty:
Cut it out:
Getting the back section lined up:
Coming along nicely with good gaps:
Getting a few welds on the floor and rockers, but the steps will be replaced soon:
Nose is six inches longer than a standard F series pick up, plus the rear doors makes this thing long!!
Shot of the inside where the human occupants will inhabit:
Looks like trouble:
More trouble in the driveway:

That's some insane fab work, looks good!
Since your still up in the air for an engine, And that truck a screaming Jimmy, as big of a one as you can fit! 6V-71T, 8V-71T, 12V-71T A Jimmmy with straight pipes and stacks can be heard from outer space!
Lot's a v12 Detroits in logging trucks up north of the border:
Of course, a 534 V8 on propane with a little turbo would be awesome as well...
