[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Sep-02 AT 10:19 PM (EST)]I live in southwestern Ohio,(greater Cincinnati area). We had a very wet spring up until mid June.Since then it has only rained about 2in.
That is until this past weekend in which we received about 2in.avg.in the area.As a matter of fact we received at least 3/4 in.this evening due to heavy showers, with more on the way(thank goodness).
Just curious, what's the rainfall been like in your area this year?
Quite heavy at times. There have been a few rain storms that have dropped 4+" at a time. Hard to keep up with the lawn mowing with it being so wet all the time.
From east-central Kansas (Greater Kansas City Area), it was slightly above normal (14.9 vs 13.5 normal by May 31st. However, since then we have had only 4.7 inches until yesterday (19.6 to date vs 28.0 normal). So, in short, summer crops were a bust (unless irrigated). There weren't many hours put on the mower, though. We had storms with rain yesterday and today.
Washington, DC area is 18+" behind on rainfall for the year. Dry as heck. My lawn is covered with leaves just like it was November, from the trees being so dry. Maybe get some rain this week-end. We need the remains of a tropical storm.
Small town of Orange, VA so short of water, resturants must use paper plates, no restrooms, they have installed Quicky Johns in the parking lot. Citizens allowed 3 minute showers.
In Western Michigan, Lower Penninsula, it has been VERY dry. My father put a thousand saplings in, and the lack of rain and the deer got quite a few of them.
It's been a very weird year in Oklahoma this year, weather wise. We've had weeks of no rain separated by total downpours. The problem is that this causes problems with erosion and flooding because the ground is too hard to soak up the water. Texas has had it even worse, from what I hear. Although this is tornado alley, we've had darn few actual tornadoes too (is that a good thing?). Now they are saying El Nino is back again and this winter is going to be very unpredictable.
in Minnesota, um, i think it was June, ( the summer went by so fast ) it rained 23 of the 29? days. im too tired to even tell how many days are in june, or even what month im reffering to. it became a sick and evil joke by nature, 23 days in one month it rained. i felt like i might as well move to seattle. good thing though was it rained mostly at night, and now in sept. its pretty dry.

Here in Southern California there was a graphic in the register back about a month ago that we had 560 some odd days with out an inch or more of rain. We need all we can get.
4x4x4x4 I grew up in New Richmond, and my folks now live in Mt Orab in Brown County. Nice to see another SD owner from that area. I was translpanted to the Hampton Roads area in Virginia via the Marine Corps. Was stationed here in 96 and have been here ever since. You do any fishing at all up there?
