The sliding door on my 1991 Aerostar XL has jammed shut. the door is acting like it is locked but the lock switch doesn't unlock it, neither does the key. A friend of mine and I were going to pull off the inside pannel of the door and see what's happened inside, but it appears that the door needs to be open to remove the pannel and, obviously opening it is the problem. Has anyone encountered this problem? What was it and how did you fix it?

 

You can remove it while it is shut. Just remove the window trim and the panels. The guide rod has come off, I would bet. If the lock at the rear is jammed you will have to remoce it with a torxs.

 

It would only make sence that the window pannels are in the way. I figured it was something simple like a rod, but getting in there has been the pain. Thanks
