"pitted" frame on '49 F-1
Hey everybody!
We're on the rebuild now, and after getting the frame on our '49 f-1 "lime blasted" we have the pitting to deal with. We' ve been experimenting on a section of frame with different products, the last one being a coating system from MasterSeries Coatings that includes a high build primer plus a two part coating chassis black. After 4 coats of primer we're still far from smooth. I'd like to see the surface a bit smoother before we mix the top coat, so I know that MAY help somewhat.
What has anyone else had success with?
I think it's going to take a lot of coats to get this right, maybe even a filler of some type. They had a sample at the show we bought this at that showed a perfectly smooth surface can be achieved by using this stuff, but I should have asked the guy how many coats it takes!
Thanks!

Ive used Evercoat Rage OVER a prime coat of ZeroRust Red Oxide on serious frame pits. ZR is chemically compatible with the filler and completely seals the metal from further problems.
Then smooth, block and top coat with whatever you want, I usually use ZR Black and clear if I want a gloss, otherwise leave as is for a satin look.
