Cabin Air Filter

Does anyone know if my 2012 F250 6.7 liter powerstroke diesel has a cabin air filter? I have looked everywhere I could think of and am unable to find one. Does this mean it doesn't have one? Thanks in advance for your help.

I had an 07 Lariat before, and there was no cabin filter on it. I have an '11 now, but I haven't looked. Check your owner's manual to be sure...

The manual doesn't say anything about a Cabin air filter but it would be nice to know for sure.

Yeah, then it probably doesn't exist. I was just thinking about this yesterday, in fact. Ford would definitely want you to buy new replacement filters from them on a regular basis and tell you why it's so important to do so, etc.

I wonder if perhaps a decent cabin filter could be fabricated. It's probably not all that difficult as long as you can figure out where the intake is. Just slap a filter over it. Even just a piece or two of panty hose would help keep big stuff out, but I bet a household filter for a central air conditioning return or something along those lines could be retrofitted fairly easily.

no Ford Super Duty has a cabin filter which is freakin stupid if you ask me! I know the 99-04 trucks had a factory aftermaket one available but you cant find it anywhere. I know GM has them and i can tell you even my cousin's Chevy 1500 2wd street truck filter looks like a old used shop rag after five thousand miles. Ford needs to step up their game because i HATE cleaning my ducts in my 04 all the time!

My wife's car has cabin air filters, I honestly do not detect any difference between the air in her vehicle and the air in my '07 F-250.

JEEZE, PLEASE don't ask the gooberment to get involved !!!

They would make sunroofs and roll down windows illegal and force us to build sealed garages @ $30k per parking spot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOMEHOW, I've survived this long without a cabin air filter in my cars, trucks, bikes, etc....

but thank goodness the 13 ExpSport has one so I'm half protected from that dastardly dust and all these reasons given in the manual !!!

CABIN AIR FILTER
Note: A cabin air filter must be installed at all times to prevent foreign objects from entering the system. Running the system without a filter in place could result in degradation or damage to the system.

Your vehicle is equipped with a cabin air filter, which is located just in front of the windshield under the cowl grille on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The particulate air filtration system is designed to reduce the concentration of airborne particles, such as dust, spores and pollen, in
the air being supplied to the interior of the vehicle. The particulate filtration system gives the following benefits to customers:
• Improves the customer’s driving comfort by reducing particle concentration.
• Improves the interior compartment cleanliness.
• Protects the climate control components from particle deposits.

Why don't you fabricate one then?

CMK has a point. I wouldn't be hard to do. Heck, just stretch a couple layers of panty hose over the inlet...

It appears that in 2019 they finally got one added (not sure about the '17 and '18's), Motorcraft Part Number FP-79. Replace every 20,000 miles.
CABIN AIR FILTER
Your vehicle is equipped with a cabin air
filter, which gives you and your passengers
the following benefits:
• It improves your driving comfort by
reducing particle concentration.
• It improves the interior compartment
cleanliness.
• It protects the climate control

You can locate the cabin air filter behind
the glove box.
Note: Make sure you have a cabin air filter
installed at all times. This prevents foreign
objects from entering the system. Running
the system without a filter in place could
result in degradation or damage to the
system.
