So today I had a few spare minutes in between sandblasting jobs so I took my doors out and sandblasted them....Pretty cool to take the paint off the doors down to bare metal but still see the outline on the door from where it said "U.S. Army IB1622" then under all that it said "For Official Use Only". I knew after I first got the truck I found the tag in the glove box and fiollowed the code on yr model, engine size, what plant it came from , etc. it got to factory color and it had the markings of "special color" so i was a little bummed even though I wasnt going back all original. I pulled the winddhield and back glass and under the trim I could see the Green under it and did some research and saw Meadow green was a factory color and I assumed that was it. I guess it was actually O.D. Green which now has me Re-Thinking my entire build. Maybe find another truck to build as a rod and just go back as close to factory as possible on this and back O.D. Green and white letter the door back U.S. Army...Got some thinking to do now. will post pic tonight when I get home.

How long did it take to blast the whole Cab? What kind of blast media & Equipment did you use? The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking about renting the stuff because everyone is quoting me around $400 to do what you've done.

BJ, I blasted just the cab inside and out in about 15 minutes. I have a 4 cyclinder John Deere Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor 185 cfm. a blast pot that holds about 400lbs of media at a time. I use whats called "minus" grit sand it is from a fairly local sand plant I buy it in 3k lb bags and use my forklift to move them all around. I have been doing this for 12 yrs now and have a hundred of or so vehicles under my belt. I know the areas to look out for and other areas where I can really let it blast and not worry about warping or blow outs. With that being said I did my cab in about 15 minutes,...a normal car or truck inside and out about 1 1/2 hrs-2 hours depending on the size and how much body filler is in one. I charge about $400 to blast and entire vehicle inside and out,...ca like mine, $150.

Olweldinrig, I had full intentions of a custom resto on the truck,..once blasted and seeing the Army letters I have since put everything on hold kind of until I decide what I want to do for sure. I really want it to be custom toa degree but an original Army service truck the way it was would be cool too. Just havent decided yet.

You are much more in line with what I would expect to pay! Sure wish you were closer to St Louis
