Cam Phasers

Hi all, I have a 2005 Expy 136000 miles with the dreaded cam phaser knock. My engine sounds normal when cold and then starts the knock once it warms up. How can I tell if its the cam phasers, the timing chain or both? Should I just go ahead and do both? I've done a lot of research on the subject and don't want to pull the front cover if I don't have to.

This is also a classic sign of a bad rod bearing.

No, This is definitely not rod bearing noise. All these views and thats the best response?

Are you using the proper oil ? Any codes ? I have seen a few make noise with improper oil . Just a thought . If it is the phasers ,not a solenoid issue or oil issue , I would do chains and guides at the same time . Some may not agree , but that is my opinion . And you know what they say about opinions !
