Well, good news is the transfer case is back on the truck with fluid in it, and the truck drives. The bad news is that it's leaking fluid from between the transfer case and the transmission adapter.
Edit: which was the only place that I didn't put black RTV, but instead used the gasket that I ordered. Stupid.
Andy it is behind the turbo, under the y pipe where it goes into the turbo, and on an 03 under the extra piece on the intake manifold...so pretty much a pain in the a**
2003 on the top, with that extra piece on the back for some reason. im just bringing it to the guy who does all the work on my uncles truck (just did an ipr on that yesterday too), and hes going to change that and the oil cooler at once. then i should be good? i finally got my intercooler boot on the hot side to stay on. the clamp just kept sliding off and blowing the pipe off...some brake clean solved that. but im going to get new riffraff diesel boots anyways, i inspected it when it was off and it was split on the seam
Im not planning on flushing the coolant, not sure if the guy im bringing it to does that or not...and the coolant is probably what, 10k miles old aaron? not to mention i just leaked half of it out so its half new. i cant beleive my oil temps arent higher after what i found in the coolant filter. i do have a 12-16* delta on the highway, so while he has the manifold off im just going to have him do it now
The symptoms i have been having is hard hot starts, and a really rough idle after driving on the highway for a while. it surges alot and if im not on the brakes hard it wants to take off
