Auto locking Hubs
Good morning to all. I have a 94 Navajo with Auto locking hubs. Can anyone tell me what they sound like when they are going bad or are bad? When I start out and make a sharp right hand turn a noise is heard. Sounds like one of those model airplane engines. The noise quiets down as you slow down. To make the noise go away, I have to make a left hand turn onto a road, turn around and then continue on my journey. The noise then never comes back until truck has been sitting for awhile and the only common denominator is a right hand turn. Does not happen everyday though. Is this noise from the hubs or something else? Who can give advise?

Auto locking Hubs
I ahbe a 92 Navajo. When my locking hubs went out I was hearing an occasional clunk from the front end when driving at highway speeds in 4wd. I repalced mine with Warn manual hubs,
clunking stopped. It cost about $125 compared to $500 for new auto hubs.

when my auto hubs went on my 94 exp there was a bad snapping sound in the front,but only when in 4x4. i would guess you may be looking at either a wheel bearing getting weird, or a front a arm bushing getting soft. the bushing can be checked by loojing at them with a flashlight look for signs of the a arm hitting the frame ater it comes through its mount.
