Cruise control failure
2000 Explorer cruise control has stopped working: instrument light does not illuminate nor does unit function. The fuses on left side of dash panel seem to be OK; don't know where else to check. The vehicle had a cell phone installed (at or about the time of cruise failure) but it only took one hot lead from the fuse panel; can't see any relation. Just inherited this fine Ford from my late dad. Need to keep it up to par! Any help will be most gratefully appreciated.

Invest $12 in the Haynes manual or about the same in a Ford/Helm service CD and test each circuit with a multimeter. The wiring diagrams show where each wire goes and whether they should be hot, ground, switched, or carry signals.
