Can I put a 97 Ford Pick-up Borg Warner 1356 electric shift transfer case into an 89 Bronco?? Will all the drivelines bolt up (without modification) and is the the speedometer cable/sender the same?? Thanks for your help!
no answer, but do have a question...WHY!!!
why would you want to put an electric shift transfer case in...?
Manual in most anything is better anf more reliable than electric
i.e...window,lock,hubs,and transfer cases.
Well, actually all the brog warner 1356, are electric shift. The one you want to install also is electronic engagement!! You will need automatic hubs if you put the transfer case in!!
The Borg & warner 1356 came in a manual and electronic shift.I belive he is asking if an 97 electronic shift will replace the electronic shift in his 89.
I also think that the B-W 13-56 was available with manual shift, and the only thing electric was the "4x4" light in the dash! Maybe I'm the only one with an 88 Bronco with the floor shifter instead of the pushbutton? NOT!!!!
To answer the original question, The swap would probably be a simple bolt-on, if you have the same transmission in the 89 as the 97, like the E4OD. If the 89 has the AOD or C-6, the t-case would fit but the driveshaft lengths are not the same.
After 1992, the t-case no longer had the speedometer gear. That may be a problem for you, if you need it in the 89.
Oh ,sorry guys. I mis understood what we were talikng about. That's correct, if you have the floor shifter, then that is manual shift. If you have a button, then that is electric shift. Again, sorry for confusing everyone.
