Leaking fluid
I am thinking of purchasing a 97 Explorer v8 AWD with 75,000 on the engine. However I notice that there is some sort of fluid leaking, near what I believe to be the catalytic converter. (only happens when the car is running). On the passenger side of the vehicle, just under the front door you can see the fluid leaking from a pipe which is connected to a small semi square box. The small square box is closet to the front end of the car and the pipe leads to the exhaust pipe. (This is why I believe it is the catalytic converter.) I know that if that is the catalytic converter, then there should be no logical reason why there would be a fluid drip from that area. Also a small drip comes out of the end of pipe as well. Has anyone else experienced this before or has any idea of what is causing it? Should this be a deal breaker for purchasing the car?

My best advice is to take it an exhaust shop, usually if its a dealer they will let you test drive it, find a reputable shop to get an idea on what is wrong with the vehicle so you can figure repairs and what it would take to make it a safe ride.
