1990 F250 4x2 351 - can I remove the oil pan without lifting the engine and then replace the pan after I check my oil-pickup tube and oil pump for problems?
I assume I need to remove the exhaust at the manifolds. If I do need to jack the engine up, where should the jack point be and do I need to loosen anything else besides the two (2) side motor mounts? Anything else I need to consider or tricks/tips I can use?
Any information I can get on this would be greatly appreciated.
I have dropped oil pans on several FE engines.. in the car, by dropping the pan, and disconnecting the oil pickup and tube thru the gap between the block and the pan. I then rotated the crankshaft BY HAND, thankyou, to obtain clearance to pull the pan back and down under the bell housing. Did not undo the motor mounts... But, if you do, you can lift the nose of the engine using a hydraulic jack under the nose of the crankshaft. Be CAREFUL. I don't think you have to drop the manifold.. but may be rong.
