I posted this in the big broncos forum but maybe someone here has an idea.
I have an 80 bronco with a 78 351m/C6/np203, and I parked it in the driveway yesterday and today when I went to drive it, it wouldn't go into any gears, it will hold in park but every other gear acts like neutral. The linkage is all intact and moves normally. The fluid level is fine and has a normal color. There are no wierd noises from the transmission it just won't engage. Could it be the nuetral safety switch or vacuum modulator, I'm not really sure what roles these items perform, or any other ideas on what it could be. Thanks for your help.
yes i tried it in 4 high and 4 low. i jacked up the rear end and put it in gear and the tires move slowly foreward. if i hit the gas the tires don't speed up. even in reverse the tires still spin slowly foreward.
