Okay. I have a 1979 Ford F150. It originally had a 351M. I am replacing it with a 400. I had bought a Refurbished Holley 650, last year for the 351M. I assume that it will be sufficient for the 400. Can "stock" and "Aftermarket" be combined? I am attempting to install all the vacuum lines re: EGR, and the Purge Control Valve on the Carbon Canister. I am having trouble locating a vacuum diagram for this vehicle. And, on the Purge Control Valve, what do I do with the hose that is supposed to go to the Carburetor Bowl Vent? I think I am going to use a Ford factory Air Breather, If that will allow my carb to draw enough air. Would I fasten that hose to the breather, in some way?
The 650 is great for the 400 I run one on my pull truck and it gives me more than enough. As for the hose if I remember correctly the factory air cleaner should have a spot to attach it on the side
The Carb that was on the truck, when I got it was an aftermarket Holley 2 bbl. I haven't seen a motorcraft installation in several years, but I was under the idea, that the hose went to a port on the top of the carb. What kind of fuel mileage do you get out of your setup?
I don't drive mine on the road so I couldn't say for sure but I usually go through 22 gallons in two days of pulling. That is including a lot of idling time and going high rpm for 300 feet. But I would say it would get normal fuel economy 8-12 mpg
